Hardly. Given the provided information there is a chance that your unit
is broken and you might have to ask for replacement. Point is that ...

As far as I understand DVD+R recording implies modified circuitry,
meaning that success with DVD+RW doesn't necessarily mean DVD+R
circuitry (an extra capacitor maybe?) is intact.

The fact that it offers 2.0x (in last line) is rather strange too... It
should offer 2.4x alone... It *might* happen that it's nothing wrong
with optics and electronics per se, but firmware image is busted and
unit applies inappropriate laser power during DVD+R recording. One way
or another there is big chance that you have to ask for replacement
unit. A.
