I recently started to try and burn DVD video on DVD-RW discs. But after two 'dvd+rw-format', it didn't work anymore, i.e.
$ dvd+rw-format -blank /dev/hdb
outputs:
* DVD?RW format utility by <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, version 4.9. :-( failed to locate "Quick Format" descriptor. :-( can't locate appropriate format descriptor * 34.0GB DVD-RW media in Sequential mode detected. * blanking /:-[ PERFORM OPC failed with SK=3h/ASC=73h/ACQ=03h]: Input/output error
Everything(*) indicates poor media or poor support by your unit firmware for this media brand. Check vendor for firmware update, try different brand, preferably explicitly recommended by vendor. A.
(*) re-writable media performing as write-once, -two or -three times, bogus media capacity, as well as failure to perform OPC.
