The original cdrecord will not spit out this junk for useless conditions as for command lines like 'cdrecord -version'. As I did already write several times: The DVD patch that SuSE is using is ignoring the data structures of cdrecord and thus definitely does not work correctly even for CDs. The text "may have bugs" is inapropriate as the SuSE binary definitely has bugs. Did you ever try out whether SuSEs junkware gives warnings for not being root when called with things different from cdrecord -version? I did never see the setpriority warnings in the mail I receive from unsatisfied SuSE customers. I do not judge from things you send here but from quoted text I receive from SuSE customers. But maybe the reason why I get mail from unsartisfied SuSE customers is that http://www.suse.de/feedback just a black hole? Why is there no similar mail from Debian users? Debian behaves different: 1) They (Debian) give support 2) They do not apply the defective DVD patch by default but let it apply theyr users if they like to compile and try it out. 3) If _they_ (Debian) have problems, they contact me for help.
