Me neither. I know I had tried, and it didn't work, way before 1.0-final came 
out. I didn't complain because I figured that it wasn't valid - like you say, doing 
two steps at once..

I didn't even know this was a supported operation... like you I've been doing it in two steps, back to the days when my Phillips 2600 SCSI drive was new stuff.
