Hi all,
I noticed that -tao mode is no longer working on my hardware since cdrecord-prodvd-2.01b31-i686-pc-linux-gnu
Everything worked fine with a previous version. Here is my system: P3 933MHz running gentoo (current).

It is not likely to be a hardware/media problem. Both worked before with following command, but not anymore
bytecruncher sg # mkisofs -J -r -D -udf SH104/|cdrecord-wrapper.sh -dev=/dev/hdc -fs=16m -v -driveropts=burnfree -speed 4 -tao -v -

It recorded proper, readable DVD+Rs with exactly the same command on previous versions. Nothing else changed since than (it's running the same kernel, the same glibc and gcc, and it's still an old session)
You didn't tell us your o/s, version, etc.
