So i would try what happens with non-disk input. Like : dd if=/dev/zero bs=1024k count=3000 | \ growisofs -use-the-force-luke -dvd-compat -Z /dev/scd0=/proc/self/fd/0

That took 25 minutes and reported the speed of 1.5x. The actual command I ran was: time dd if=/dev/zero bs=1024k count=3000 | growisofs -Z /dev/scd0=/dev/fd/0

Seems that the burner alone is out of whack :-)

Related idea : Do you see any difference if input is taken from the other disk ?

I haven't tried that yet. What I just noticed is that the CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDEDMA_PCI was not enabled in the kernel :-( I am rebuiding the kernel, and hopefully this will allow me to set dma to 1. I'll post the result here.

Thanks for your help,
Alex
