Hi all, I have been tinkering with the bitsetting function of my DVD writer: Lite-On LDW-401S, but I can' make it work under Linux. Here's the information of my writer:
# dvd+rw-mediainfo /dev/dvd2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INQUIRY: [LITE-ON ][DVD+RW LDW-401S ][ES0M] GET [CURRENT] CONFIGURATION: Mounted Media: 1Bh, DVD+R Current Write Speed: 4.0x1385=5540KB/s Write Speed #0: 4.0x1385=5540KB/s Write Speed #1: 2.4x1385=3324KB/s GET [CURRENT] PERFORMANCE: Write Performance: 4.0x1385=5540KB/[EMAIL PROTECTED] -> 0] Speed Descriptor#0: 00/0 [EMAIL PROTECTED]/s [EMAIL PROTECTED]/s Speed Descriptor#1: 00/0 [EMAIL PROTECTED]/s [EMAIL PROTECTED]/s READ DVD STRUCTURE[#0h]: Media Book Type: A1h, DVD+R book [revision 1] Media ID: CMC MAG/E01 Legacy lead-out at: 0*2KB=0 READ DISC INFORMATION: Disc status: blank Number of Sessions: 1 State of Last Session: empty Number of Tracks: 1 READ TRACK INFORMATION[#1]: Track State: blank Track Start Address: 0*2KB Next Writable Address: 0*2KB Free Blocks: 2295104*2KB Track Size: 2295104*2KB READ CAPACITY: 1*2048=2048 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Upgrading to firmware ES0M (which adds the bitsetting feature), I have successfully changed the booktype status of my writer in Windows, and have burned a DVD+R disc with DVD-Rom booktype too. However, when I tried to change the booktype of a DVD+R disc under Linux, error messages were returned as these: # dvd+rw-booktype -dvd-rom -unit+r /dev/dvd2 > :-[ RICOH(14h) failed with SK=5h/ASC=30h/ACQ=06h]: Wrong medium type # dvd+rw-booktype -inq /dev/dvd2 > Unable to determine unit settings. Default settings vary from > firmware to firmware. Set explicitly to be certain. So, is there any hacking I can do to make 'dvd+rw-booktype' utility to support my Lite-On LDW-401S writer? I am willing to do some tests and feedback if it can help. Any help and suggestion is really appreciated -Wily Yuen Feb 1, 2005 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
