Erm. I thought it was a CD-RW. One cannot blank a CD-R, of course. You will have to watch the outcome of the next write attempts. For now the burn programs are not the most probable suspects. Maybe you should try them alternatingly to give both a fair chance to hit a bad media or a bad moment of your drive.
