X. Discussion Items
1. Building an Agenda for the Committee’s February meeting (and beyond).
A. Clarification of the Worker Rule (see S. Bauschard’s email to the
committee).
• Requiring scouts to scout “up to 8 debates.”
• Host responsibility for interpreting the rule.
• Application to adult – graduated students.
B. Engraving 32 participant mugs with “First Round” (see S. Bauschard’s
email to the committee).
C. Hanson – Host schools and elim points for NDT rankings. Jim proposes
that the wording contained in the rankings procedures be changed.
(e) Elimination rounds of teams from the host school of a tournament
will not count toward the rankings;
He would like to change it to this:
(e) If the tab room director(s) are from one school only, then
elimination rounds of teams from that school will not count toward the
rankings (you must have two schools represented as tab directors to have
all elimination points counted);
Rationale: This allows host schools to earn full points while assuring
oversight; Further, this rule assures that teams not from the host
school but from the school of the tab director are only counted if the
tab director has oversight.
After some investigation and consultation it appears that the only place
where the ranking procedures are located is in the rankings document
itself. Is there a desire to codify these elsewhere?
D. Crafting a Sexual Harassment Policy – S. Hall
E. NDT ordinal MPJ study - (Subcommittee on Tournament Procedures).
E. Equity Proposal – Any further discussion or work on legislative
action?
