Co-Director of Speech and Debate Assistant Professor Mass Communication and Communication Studies College of Fine Arts and Communication COFAC-N-2182 Position Assistant Professor, Tenure Track in Communication Studies. Responsibilities Teach undergraduate courses in advanced public speaking, business and professional communication and other elective areas based on expertise. Serve as the co-director of a PKD nationally competitive policy debate and regionally competitive speech program with substantial involvement in urban debate initiatives. These responsibilities include budgeting, traveling, and active coaching. Scholarly growth and university service are expected. Maintain a robust and visible record of scholarship. Student advising is required. Graduate and summer teaching are available. Qualifications To be considered for a tenure-track position candidate must have an earned PhD (completion of all doctoral work required by February 1, 2009). ABD and MA will be considered at the lecturer level. Demonstrated success as a classroom teacher, forensics coach, and potential for research productivity is required. Experience with civic engagement is desired. Salary is commensurate with experience. The Department The Department offers a major in communication studies and a major in mass communication with tracks in journalism and new media, advertising, and strategic public relations and integrated communication. A master's degree is offered in communications management. The department annually enrolls approximately 1,000 majors served by 23 full-time and 45 part-time faculty.
