I'm happy to announce the availability of a somewhat functional, somewhat
documented
crash handler for embedded Linux. The program is called, unimaginatively,
"crash_handler".

It is briefly described, and the source and documentation can be downloaded,
at: http://elinux.org/Crash_handler.

This follows up on some prototype work that I reported on at ELC in February.

It should be usable as is (modulo adding a small kernel patch, which is
included). But, as the version implies, it is still pretty new code, and
has only been tested by me in a simple configuration. The source tar
includes some fairly extensive documentation, but if you have any questions
don't hesitate to ask.

By the way, this has a lot of ARM-specific code. I'm not sure what parts
of it will work (or not) on other processors. But feel free to give it
a shot.

Please try it out, and if you have any comments let me know. (I will take
feedback on this list or privately.)

Thanks,
 -- Tim
