St. Paulinus, Abbot and Founder of Whitland, Wales

(also known as Polin, Pewlin, Paulhen)

Died c. 505. A Welsh abbot, pupil of Saint Illtyd, Paulinus is possibly
the founder of the monastery of Whitland (Caermarthen), where he had
among his disciples Saint David and Saint Teilo (Benedictines).


St. Edred, King of England

Eadred (Edred) , King of England was born about 924 in Wessex, England.
Saint Dunstan was his advisor and Edred adopted Dunstan's ideas for
various reforms of the clergy (including the control of many cathedrals
by monastic chapters) and for relations with the Danish settlers. He
died 23 Nov 955 in Frome, Somersetshire, England and was buried in the
Mortuary Chest, Winchester Cathedral, Winchester, England.
