(This is an article from today's Syracuse newspaper 5/30/06. Note the

Sheriff's odd name, Outhouse, which I've heard of him before.

This cemetery I visited last year and included in a report and made mention

there were no Fleming's buried in Fleming. The newspaper article showed

photos of the ruined stones. The guy actually lost the tip of his finger in
the

course of toppling stones, to bad he didn't loose an
arm.....................)

Fleming(N.Y.) cemetery vandalized on Memorial Day

Cayuga County Sheriff deputies arrested a 26-year-old Auburn man Monday in

connection with the vandalism of more than 50 headstones at St. Joseph's

Cemetery in Fleming.

Adam Warner, 26, of Auburn, faces charges of criminal mischief, criminal

trespass and cemetery desecration, Sheriff Rob Outhouse said. He said the

sheriff's office was processing the paperwork late Monday afternoon.

Warner was arrested for allegedly toppling over 53 headstones at the

cemetery located near Owasco Lake. Sheriff Rob Outhouse said the suspect
maintains

that he acted alone.

Some of the headstones suffered damage, said Mitchell Fanning, the cemetery

administrator.

Fanning said he received a call from sheriff deputies at 5 a.m. Monday.

It appeared the individual entered at the entrance at the southeast corner

by the traffic circle and proceeded north through the cemetery, knocking
over

headstones, Fanning said. The individual injured his finger during the

incident, Fanning said.

"The cemetery's going to do it's best to get as much as this straightened

and cleaned up as quickly as possible," Fanning said. "Our hearts just go
out

to

all the families that are affected by this, this absolute desecration of

cemetery grounds."
