Cemetery Report:June 29, 2010 " I almost finished my BATH" List user
7/3/2010, 10:11:50 AM I'll be stopping again in Hammondsport, since last weeks trip I found there was another cemetery that I had missed. Its right on the way, so no big deal picking this up on the way back to Bath. < I have to continue my bath from last week. How many of you have had a week long wait for the rest of your bath??????????? Out the big door at 4:20AM, I woke up at 3:40AM instead of waiting for the alarm to go off at 4AM. Must be anxious again. Now 71F/22C. 6:00AM brings me to Elmwood Cemetery on Main St. in Hammondsport. So its 1 hour 40 minutes from here to there early in the morning. Now 64F/17C. Stanley B. Fairchild died Dec 19, 1882 age 77 years and 11 months. Dr. Ezekiel B. Pulling M.D. died Sept 18, 1844 age 46 years 9 months and 18 days.(< he should have been a dentist instead with such an appropriate name) Persis Savage died June 7, 1852 age 79 years and 6 months. Ambraus Laughlin died Aug 13, 1899 age 70 years and 8 months. Oh, by the way, no deer ran in front of the car this morning, but I did have one run along side of the car for a few seconds. James O'Laughlin Born at Gralg-Vohit, Co. Deny, Ireland died Sept 27, 1858 age 44 years. Patrick York 1829-1892. Orrin E. Loveridge 1837-1915. Bradley M. Cogswell 1830-1895. Phillorman P. Truesdell 1814-1854. As you see this wasn't a very large cemetery. Devoe Born in New York City July 16, 1838 and died Oct 14, 1871. The Caretaker just pulled in and we had a nice chat. Seems he knows everyone here and all their backgrounds. He's very proud of his cemetery and appreciates all the history he is in charge of. He asked me to come back anytime for a visit and a chat. Nice old guy. All done here, walked .8 miles in this "Dead Domain" and vacated at 7:57AM @ 64F/18C. 7:59AM brings me to Bath Pioneer Cemetery established 1793. James Johnson Pvt. Another great day with the dead. Best Bill Total of 9.8 miles walking for the day. And the more I walk with the dead, the more I like them rather then the living !
