Hi all,
I am sorry that I didn't have the time to take care of centerIM
lately, but you know hoe life does work, don't you?
Anyhow I think we should find a way to make sure that even if I don't
have the time to merge the mob branch in the master branch someone
else is able to do it so that we don't stop ongoing development! So we
have two possibilities:
1. Someone takes the responsability of merging the mob branch in the
master branch and making new tarballs. For this to happen this someone
must first subscribe to repo.or.cz and then ask David Riebenbauer to
be added to the project. The same applies for the sourceforge project,
so that she/he can manage bugs and all. Merging the two branches
implies that before doing this she/he must check that the package can
compile fine with various configure options, especially if there are
new options added.
2. We could change VCS. There aresome downsides to git: it is not so
straightforward to use, apparently it is difficult to install on
systems other than linux. On the other hand, I like that fact that
commits don't require that you are online, only synchronization
requires a connection to a server. Also, something we didn't make big
usage of yet, it has an interesting personal branching mechanism that
allows everyone to have its own personalization in centerim without
forcibly adding unstable code in the official branch. A good
alternative may be bazaar[1] because it has the same development
model, but it is written in Python (so portable to any platform) and
it has support for things like ftp server synchronization.

Anyway I'd like to know what you guys think about the issue, I just
don't want ongoing development to stop just because I don't have the
time!
