The panel library is part of ncurses. What distro are you using?
Which version of ncurses. Do you have a libpanel.so file on your
system?
I'm the mantainer for centerim on Debian systems. I'm using just
Debian unstable packages.
But I will try to do aanother tets using a pbuilder environment (may
be my machine is something dirty.

Currently the detection of curses is somewhat broken, which might be the
cause.
