Usually, memory sticks just need to be removed and reseated, not replaced. The gold plating is supposed to prevent oxidation of the contact surfaces, but it can wear off (0.4 microns should be good for 100 insertion/removal cycles, though), or even be so porous as to allow oxidation of the underlying surface (typically nickle-plated copper) to 'creep' through the gold... the process of removing and reinserting *should* 'wipe' the contact surface[s] clean again. _______________________________________________ CentOS mailing list CentOS@centos.org http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos
