It’s not a question of what is “newer”. Fedora has ‘fbset’, and has had it since before CentOS6 was released, and continues to have it in Fedora 22 and Rawhide. Red Hat decided not to include ‘fbset’ in RHEL6, and it isn’t built in the CentOS Extras either.
