Ernie : It seems to me that Al Jazeera got a bad rap from the outset. It also seems to me that most Americans bought the virulent anti-Jazeera rant hook, line, and sinker ( especially perpetrated by CNN in reaction to new and unwanted stiff competition ), out of perceived need for a highly visible scapegoat .after 9 / 11. That is , public reaction against Al Jazeera in the USA, has always been so much mindless prejudice, almost entirely driven by ignorance and as prompted by mega media conglomerates seeking to wreck the reputation of the Qatari network for their own benefit. That is, most Americans were and mostly still are ridiculously uninformed about Islam, about Al Jazeera, and about a wide range of subjects that they remain too lazy to look into for themselves. Hence they are led by the nose, way too often anyway, by propaganda that emanate from the Big Networks or even by Fox, which is now partly owned by the Saudis. Al Jazeera's major failing is that it can offer criticisms of' almost anything, but NOT of the Qatar regime or its interests.
