Countering claims that the DHS is targeting conservatives is the fact
that the department issued a similar report on leftwing groups a few
months previously.
"Leftwing Extremists Likely to Increase Use of Cyber Attacks over the
Coming Decade," issued Jan. 26, 2009 (six days after Obama took
office), said leftwing extremists include "radical elements of the
anarchist, animal rights, or environmental movements" who are "willing
to violate the law to achieve their objectives."

"I know that some veterans' groups were offended by the fact that
veterans were mentioned in this assessment. So, I apologize for that
offense. It was certainly not intended. I'll be meeting with the
leaders of some of those groups next week," she told CNN on April 16.

This brings us back to Bilirakis' claim that DHS thinks that
"returning military veterans and gun owners are likely to commit
terrorist acts." This is a distortion of what the report actually
said. The report said that rightwing extremists would try to recruit
veterans, and that they would try to use gun control legislation as a
"radicalization" tool. That's very different. We rate his statement
Barely True.

What do you think of the recent report issued by Secretary
Neapolitano of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security which
declares that all veterans are high-risk for becoming potential
terrorists? First, this bitch bans the use of the word "terrorism"
in favor of "manmade disasters", and then she proceeds to focus on
veterans as being the bad guys. I guess that it's anything to avoid
focusing on Islamic extremism as the real threat since that wouldn't
be "politically correct".
Personally, I still honor the Oath of Enlistment to "support and
defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies
foreign and domestic, to bear true faith and allegiance to the
same," etc. so I'm irked at the DHS's report. What do you guys think
about it? As combat veterans, we're probably near the top of the
blacklist.
