Not my observation, but seems true enough, Islam is essentially
medieval
in character.
Yes, I do think Islam is strongly anacrhonistic. Of course, almost all
revelation-based religions have a certain traditionalist, but Islam
seems to take that to an extreme (along the lines of Hasidic Judaism,
I suppose).
NOT all Arabs are in this boat, of course, especially not the Gulf
states, but
otherwise it seems more true than otherwise.
A very interesting point. The question I wonder about is whether the
current crop of experiments in the Gulf States -- and even Pakistan --
might move beyond that.
