My best guess : Barnes was referring to the rank and file, to various demographics like women and African-Americans. If so, but I don't know, then what the Left wing of the Democratic Party wants may be a secondary matter --they have far fewer votes than the "base" in the sense just outlined. PS If you have never seen the panel discussions on "Special Report" on Fox, well, you have been missing a great news segment. It is 20 minutes daily of conversation that is about as RC as anything gets. In the course of a typical week a conscientious effort is made to balance L & R, with some of the smartest news analysts in the US. Many of these people have gotten to know each other closely over the years and it is easy to see an RC dynamic at work in how they discuss issues. The MSM characterization of Fox applies only to two shows, just two ( 2 ), Hannity and Glenn Beck. Special Report is damned good, professional from start to finish, and IMHO is better than anything else of its type.
