As an independent my attitude is wait and see. I am disgusted by the hyperpartisanship in Washington. I doubt if a 41/59 minority in the senate is going to make much difference.

Will it help / give more power to the independents? Theoretically, yes, since it makes it clear to Obama that he can't sustain his majority without them, and that they aren't inclined to cut him any slack.
