Ernie : In one ear and out the other, I guess, since I have brought this up before. There were as many as 500,000 Baha'is in Iran pre-1979. Maybe that is high but its certainly in the ballpark. The current tally is in the 300,000 range. "Only" about 10,000 were killed, mostly in the early 80s, the rest fled the country, with a good number who now live in metro LA or thereabouts. Or Amsterdam, London, Australia, etc. Property theft by the regime was devastating, as a rough guess the Baha'is lost as much as half of everything .Mass scale rapes, public torture also at large scale, kids denied schooling ( also a serious problem for the Zoroastrians ), and on and on. Ca 1985 to the early 2000s. some semblance of normality for the survivors with exceptions when the regime needed scapegoats, as is true again now.
