I think the editor is half-right. I don't want tired liberalism pushing
big-government spending, but neither do I want tired conservatism promising
less government and taxes. I want an empirically sound approach to
restructuring:
- regulation
- taxation, AND
- investment
to maximize entrepreneurship, productivity and wages.
Alas, nobody (in either government or civil society, it seems) is seriously
asking that question, much less providing a robust answer.
