The famous fast food chain Kentucky Fried Chickens (KFC) attempt to sale Islamic food did not go very well. Their stores have been boycotted by both Muslims and Non-Muslims alike. It opened 86 stores with a promise to sale halal chickens, which should have been slaughtered under Islamic guidelines. However, the Muslims were not pleased with the process and decided to stay away. To make a food halal, the chicken must be slaughtered while alive and verses from Quran must be recited in the chickens ear. However, Muslims claimed pre-stunning of chickens make most of the chickens dead before they are slaughtered. Furthermore, the recitation of Quranic verses over a speaker is not enough and chickens are deprived from receiving individual blessing while making their eternal journey. On the other hand, non-Muslims were furious for not having pork related food. The exclusion of bacon-topped Big Daddys burger made many non-Muslims mad. Some unhappy customers launched a campaign against KFC. Groups named as Against the KFC Halal Trial and No Halal at Colne KFC are gaining momentum.
