Ernie:
Well, Left-wing Christianity wasn't always a multi-culturalist phenomenon,
so I guess it isn't structurally necessary for it to be multicultural in
the future,
but from the perspective of 2010 it is kind of difficult to imagine a time
when the current status changes.

When I read tea leaves I just don't see this happening any time soon,
viz, in the next 20 years minimum. Is there something you see which
leads you to suspect a turnaround ?

( as you can probably be tell, I am just a bit skeptical )

Actually, a Muslim reformation/renewal isn't any more unlikely than
liberal Christianity giving up on multiculturalism, which is what I think is
required for America to mount the sort of coherent response to Islam you're
calling for.

That, or a Muslim reformation.

Unless you have something more that's "out of the box."

That's why the Arabs need to kill them all. There is no other option.
Hating the Jews keeps the Arabs unified. If there are no Jews they will kill
one another (as they already do, just more of it).

A painfully accurate, if rather depressing, diagnosis. So what's the
"Third Way" out? Is there some way (however drawn out and difficult) of
forging
a new identity for the Arab/Muslim world? Might a successful Iraq point
the way forward?!?
