Hi, We have an existing cluster running on 0.56 that has a very low number of pg for the .rgw* pools. We previously asked on the mailing list how resize this pool, at the time there was no solution, but a ticket was open. This ticket is http://tracker.ceph.com/issues/2366 . The ticket is closed and should be in the 0.56 version.
