Yes obviously, you can try out all the features of ceph in a virtualized environment. Infact it is the easiet and recommended way of playing with Ceph. Ceph docs lists the way to do this, it should take hardly any time to get it done. http://ceph.com/docs/master/start/quick-start-preflight/ Please reach out, in case of any issues.
