Dear Esteemed basketball lovers,

On Saturday, 23rd May 2009, we had a meeting to discuss how as CEZOBAL
we can wake up from our slumber and carry on playing ball. Present at
this well attended meeting were the following basketball die hards:

Herbert Chidaya,

Daud Suleman

Rocky Kaunda

Jacob Chikoya

George Phiri

Barlett Mafuleka

Paul Kamlongera

Wales Mvula

Dan Khomba

Adama Kara

Kingsley Gwaza

Mwayi from Alliance one

Sten Chakanika and Clement Masangano sent a note about their failure to
attend due to personal commitments. However they are supporting the
efforts being made all the way.

Without wasting much of your time, here are some of the important points
that were discussed and agreed during the meeting. By the way, Rocky
opened the meeting with a prayer and Adam closed it with the same. I
just thought it's important that I mention that too.

1. We have a new interim committee which will run basketball
affairs in the central region until elections are held. It is being
headed by either King Gwaza or Barlett Mafuleka (These too gentlemen
will agree who will be the chair and who will be vice). The secretary is
Mr Paul Kamlongera. These three guys will be running CEZOBAL until
elections are held. Let's give them support and understanding,
otherwise, with these guys at the helm, things really look promising.
Without trying to patronise anyone, what we have here are guys with a
lot of experience in running stuff, well respected, passionate about
basketball, qualified in many aspects and will surely bring back the
lost glory basketball in the central region used to enjoy. But, as I
said, they will need our support, respect and understanding. The rest of
the guys those that were part of the meeting, (see the names above) will
be the foot soldiers. Anyamata othamangathamnga. We will be at the beck
and call of these three gentlemen carrying out their instructions. King,
Barlett and Paul will do the strategical work and making sure that
things are being run with order and purpose. They will make sure that
there is discipline at all levels. The rest of us will be implementing
their plans and working hard to move things on the ground

2. On presidential prize money the meeting agreed that George
should follow up with the secondary school teams and find out whether
they received their prize monies. He should report back on his findings
particularly giving names of people that received the prize money on
behalf of the schools. George also informed the meeting that teams that
won during the president's cup could and should go and cash their
cheques. The money is now available in Basmal account. If cheques were
referred to drawer by the banks, contact George or Jacob so that he can
issue you with fresh cheques.

3. The meeting also agreed dates when the new CEZOBAL basketball
season should start. There will be a tournament for purposes of
publicity on the 13th of June 09 while the league itself will start in
27th June 09. Teams that want to take part please start your
preparations now. Teams will be required to register, (registration
fees) and commit by signing to adhere to rules and regulations of the
league at all times. Daud Suleman will in due course circulate these
rules and regulation.

4. On sponsorship for both the tournament and league, king and
Barlett will be working on it and will provide feedback to the forum by
Wednesday 27th May 2009. Please check your e-mails regularly for
updates. We will be also sending information through phones, so if you
are one of the people that would like to be informed through telephones
(inu amene e-mail simmaikonda; team captains/owners) please indicate.
However, the information won't be as detailed as it is on this forum

5. On infrastructure, the only available court that we have is
Silver. The meeting agreed that the interim and committee and the foot
soldiers should have look at it on Sunday 24th and Tuesday 26th May
2009. So if you went, can we hear your views and suggestions for
improvement on this forum before the end of this week.

I hope this is all I can report for now. If I have forgotten something,
please feel free to add. On the sidelines of the meeting though, Rocky
and Wales agreed to have their own working committee on Area 12
basketball court. They might be calling us one of these days to assist
in one way or the other.

Thanks Guys.
