Guys,

Excuse if i use the thread for something else, allow me to try to explain a
few thigns that i have observed that we are either doing wrong or we dont
know what the right call is.. thsi is purely about Referees and players..

1) Time outs can only be called by the official desk...a team wishing to
call time out, tells the desk and during a dead ball situation..the desk
calls the whistle and signals time out and points which desk called time
out..

You cant call time out when the ball is Live..
Every team needs to designate a coach or an Aisistant coach who sits at the
beanch and is the ONLY one allowed to call time out and not players

2) what is a dead ball? when a basket is made, whether a 3 pointer or a
dunk, the ball becomes dead at the moment it goes into the basket.. when the
whistle is blown by ref -ball becomes dead, when it goes out of bounds, it
also becomes dead..

3)charge and a blocking: a charge is when an offensive player makes contact
with a defensive player who WAS STATIONARY at the time of conatct. If the
defensive player was moving when contact is made, the defensive player
commits a blocking foul. elememnts of time and distance do not apply to a
player who has the ball, in other words, a player with the ball has an
advantage over a spot against a defensive player but an offensive player
wihtout the ball DOES not have the advantage to a spot with his defensive
player..

4) Technical foul.. a repeated and deliberate misconduct by a player/coach
results in a tech.. its that simple...if i make a call, and player B argues
the call, i have the right to call tech.. If a player hits the ball or
throws the ball away in frustration, thats a tech.. BUT officials are
encouraged to talk to players about their conduct before Tech-ing them..

the simplest explanation is that a decision by a ref is final and you cant
contest it, if you do, you are commiting a technical foul.

5)Fragrant foul.. if you foul a player with no intention to play the ball,
thats a fragrant foul, 2 free throws, whether the player was shooting or
not.. and possesion goes to the shooting team. Most of the fouls we are
commiting in CEZOBAL are fragrant fouls. The hard fouls and attempts to
block shots with the use of your entire body, its a fragrant foul.

ndati ndiyese kufotokoza tiwiri timeneti..

thanks.

Sule.
