This may not be the place to troubleshoot this, but... What I notice
happening (this happened last friday when I thought the lists were down)
is that if my mail server gets somewhat busy, then I won't get mail for
several hours from the hof server, then all of a sudden, I'll get maybe
twenty to fifty messages, anywhere from two to five hours old. In the
meantime, lots of other mail gets through just fine.
What I think might be happening is that your mail server has difficulty
connecting with other servers and either it or the other mail server gives
up the connection prematurely. This could be a problem that compounds
itself, since it may try all those servers over and over again without
ever delivering any mail.
