Just a note, fellow FusionBabies: I've heard about scummy headshops that farm
people out to contract jobs and then don't pay. There is, however, one company
that I have personal experience with that is run by some very upstanding and
honest people, they always pay their contractors on time, and they find
primo-interesting contracts rather than "bricklayer" jobs. Not only that, but
they stand behind their contractors as well.

The company's name is IntelliTech (www.it-inc.com, 205-991-7260), and they are
headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. The main man there is named Clay Powell,
and I work with him and his staff when they need high-end architectural
groundwork to be laid for large projects. There have been two projects where
the client liaison -- through a lack of understanding of concepts -- wanted to
do something that was counter to the Software Engineering Code of Ethics, and I
respectfully declined to implement on the grounds that it would be counter to
the client's best interest. IntelliTech stood behind me, rather than whine
about the many thousands of dollars they lost in billable hours. I don't know
about your experiences with recruiting and consulting firms, but this behavior
appears to be unique and rather valuable to a consultant.

I can't recommend them highly enough, folks. Just my two cents-worth.
