I would go for the clone. But I would get less expensive CPUs and use the $$ saved to
put more RAM on your SQL server box.
It could use (and perform better) with 512 or 1024 Mb RAM. SQL server loves RAM!
On your CF server do you ever use all the ram? If so consider going to 1024 Mb RAM on
it too.
Are your dual drives in RAID for extra speed? That would help too. Even if you just do
in software using Win NT RAID as the
box could then read files twice as fast from HD due to striping.
I hope you have good NIC cards in all machines too. Maybe dual NIC cards - one for
internet and one for internal connection
between CF and SQL server. This speeds up performance as can do access to both
internet and SQL server at same time. This
is also good for security as you can isolate the SQL server from the internet better...
