Wd just upgraded a few development machines to PIII 800's (Asus CUSL2
mobo's) with 256k ram and 7200 RPM disks, running Windows 2000. MUCH faster
than the old PII 233 to 400 machines we were running, and for about $800
per. It's amazing how much juice you can get for your buck these days, so
long as you stay away from the latest and greatest Intel has to offer.
Nonetheless, it's not suprising how badly the PC industry is doing these
days... there just isn't an overwhelming need for machines that are
significantly faster than those bought a year or two ago.
