There isn't a lot to be said here as far as specifics. You need to factor
in the cost of living in your community first. The industry standard salary
may or not apply to you in your region. Also, examine the benefits at the
company you're at. Personally, if I love the company I work for and the
people I work with, that is worth more than an extra couple of bucks. Also,
how is your company doing, and in what industry? If your company has had a
rough year, don't expect a huge raise. Likewise, if it's a non-profit
company dont expect a large raise either. My experience has been that most
companies offer UP TO a 5% raise each year.... but that's just my experience
and doesn't necessarily mean anything to you. Another thing to consider is
how well you perform. If you come in early and/or stay late, and if you
meet all of your deadlines with well written code and meet all of your
personal goals at work, this may or may not have a large impact on whether
or not your employer will be more or less willing to offer a large raise.
These are all things to consider, but the bottom line is that there are a
lot of factors that are specific to you and you alone, and you should
examine all of these factors and talk about them with your fiance. Then, if
you ask for a raise and meet resistence or hesitance, discuss these factors
with your employer and/or follow whatever course of action you and your
fiance have predetermined to be the best and most acceptable course of
action. Just remember that you want this raise because of her, and that
both the way you handle asking for a raise and whatever raise you get,
effect her too.

Good Luck to you!!

Subject: self worth :: 3 year review

ok its that time again.

i am up for my 3 year review here.
i have a solid year+ of CF experience.
also have 3 years of flash, 1 year of ultra dev & 4-5 years of DreamWeaver &
html.

i am not sure what to ask for as a raise.
i have completed *Every* hair brained idea that my manegers could think of.

i make 48k a year, which i think is way below my market value,
but forgot the site that shows you an estimate of what you are worth.
if you know the URL please let me know.

on top of that, me & my fiance just set a date of sept 2nd, to get married.
so i want to significantly raise my income.

all suggestions would be helpful.
Thank You!

-paul
