Loved the HR and IT thread. Too bad it veered off into CV vs. Resume. So, to rejuvenate the old thread: 1) HR generally writes the job descriptions; what they write generally don't fit the actual jobs being offered - is there any way to interpret what they really want? 2) Why would IT people leave so much discretion to the HR people? Are their interests served by such a circuitous and confused process? 3) If the job is filled, someone has to be selected - who would this be? 4) Should job-seekers proceed without regard to the content of job descriptions, playing the job lottery game instead? With enough applications, you eventually get a job? 5) What are the turnoffs for the HR gatekeeper and/or the IT hiring manager when an applicant is rejected? 6) Any known "turnons?"
