I hope I understood what you're saying but I'll try to answer anyway:

Are you viewing the file on the screen before writing because what is 
viewed will be out
of whack (remembering that HTML doesn't like spaces & tabs) but the file 
will be written exactly as you lay it out.

I have done so quite successfully...Was I any help?
