Seriously though, I've noticed the same trend not only in geekdom but also
in other places too.  I rowed for my university back in Northern Ireland
where 90% of my crewmates were taking technical or professional degrees, it
was very much the exception that club members were studying liberal arts or
humanities etc.  Approx 35% of the uni's students were studying arts.  Just
different mindsets I guess....

I have a theory about geeks and sci fi.  I think it has less to do with
intelligent plotlines and more to do with geeks being the hero, saving the
world, getting the girl.
