Studio 4.5.2 is irritating me. A cranky Jennifer doesn't work as well as a
happy Jennifer.
Problem 1: It seems that my FTP connections are not being maintained. This
is new since I upgraded from 4.0.something to 4.5.2 (last week). All of our
servers are remote and I connect to them through FTP. If I am idle for a
while, say I get up to fix some lunch, when I come back and make a change
and try to save the file, I get an error message "Failed to create data
socket." If I try again immediately, I get the same error. If I wait a few
minutes, the error message changes to "Winsock error: connection reset." If
I try again, it works. So, every so often I get up to fix some lunch or
some coffee or eat some muffins or whatever and the next time I make
changes I have to wade through error messages and wait a few minutes to
save. It's irritating. I've checked Options>Settings and I've found no
option to maintain the FTP connection while idle. Which leads me to problem 2.
Problem 2: So I decided to search the help files for information on the FTP
stuff to see if I am missing a setting somewhere. I click the help tab,
click the little binoculars, I get a "You gotta index the files first,
dummy" message. I click the "I ain't no dummy. Index the freaking files"
button. Chugga chugga chugga chugga "Setting up index file" ... "Setting up
index file" ... "Setting up index file" ... "kernel32.dll has detected a
crash in this program. The system may have become unstable. Reboot or
SUFFER." So I close everything and reboot. Reopen CF Studio, click the help
tab, click the little binoculars. Find "ftp" in "CF Studio documentation."
No matches. Hmmmmmmmm. Find "CFPARAM" in all documentation. No matches. Phooey.
So, anybody know how to delete the existing index file so it needs to be
recreated and/or know how to set Studio to maintain FTP connections while idle?
