Well it sure is a *major* issue here in the Isle of Man right now!

In about one month, the famous annual Isle of Man TT motorcycle races are due to
take place, where tens of thousands of bikes and bikers converge here for two
weeks. It is two weeks in the year where the economy makes more out of tourism
than it does for rest of the year on tourism.

Right now foot and mouth hasn't reached here, but of course if the TT races go
ahead there is a very real danger, with all of those people arriving from all
over Europe (and the world) and camping in fields as they travel and arrive
here, that the disease could be bought here.

The goverment has a very tough decision to make - cancel the TT and wipe out the
most lucrative two weeks for tourism, or allow it to go ahead and wipe out the
entire farming industry here.

These are real issues regardless of the severity of the disease itself.

Adrian Cooper.
