Very true. anyone who has been trained to use a handgun will know that it's
much more effective to point and squeez than to wave it wildy about ..
that's why we have fully automatic weapons ;)

His defense actually sounds like what his defense lawyers told him to say.
I own a few guns and have never had one go off "accidently" while waving it
in someone's face .. Then again, I have never waved one in someone's face
(as this kid admitted to doing for the purpose of intimidation) .. I know
better .. I mean .. duh! It sounds to me like the kid knew exactly what he
was doing with the gun and what it can be used for. By using it as a tool
of intimidation, he demonstrated a fair knowledge of the consequences of
actually shooting someone and desired effect such a threat would have on
another human being. I do feel sorry for him, but only in that in his
parents/grandparents didn't teach him more respect for such a weapon and for
life in general. I also feel sorry for the parents/grandparents, but only
in what they must be going through ... what a thing to live with ("If only I
had taught my child/grandchild more respect for life.", or "If only I had
taken more responsibilty while enforcing my right to bear arms and hadn't
hidden the gun in a cookie jar.", or "If only I had taugh him that violence,
or the threat of violence, isn't always the right answer to life's
problems.")
