Good point Edward. We take the same approach, so while my client was
(shamefully I might add...) one of the PoisonBox targets, their websites
were not affected.
Not a replacement for good security control and administration though, as I
have been learning!

may I suggest one little point here....
DON'T USE DEFAULT AND INDEX as your default files.... We use welcome and
even though our server got hacked ( yes I am now hanging my head in shame!)
it didn't affct any pages coz we use something unusual as our default
page.........
simple but effective......
