Yep Ben...I'm very lucky to work there...especially
since I'm such a space nerd too. Which is why it is
so hard to make my next job move. After 3 years at
KSC I'm moving to a non-government job (still in
Merritt Island). When I negociated my new job, I had
them factor in the cost of not being able to view a
launch "up close and personal". I start that job on
June 6th.

Wasn't here during the Challenger tragedy, but I do
remember hearing it on the radio in California (where
I was at the time). Kinda like "where were you when
Kennedy was assignated".

And yes, you are correct, those bleachers are right
outside the Saturn V exhibit. I work in a building
next to NASA Headquarters. The bus tours that take
folk over to the Cape Canaveral side pass my window.
There seem to be more and more each day. Up until
about 5 years ago, the space center was going under as
a tourist destination, but now it's really taking off.

As far as photos...most are available to the public
from the http://www.ksc.nasa.gov web site. We're
working now on improving the search capabilities of
hundreds of thousands of photos from the last 50
years.

Again...if anyone wants to make this a stop in
conjunction with the confernece, email me and I'll
send more info.
