The word, moral, comes from the Latin noun meaning, simply, "habit or
custom (of society)." In times past, to be moral was to conform to the
habits of society. When there was a more widely-accepted, clear-cut view
of right and wrong, varying from the societal habit or custom was
labeled immoral (not moral). If it's true that we no longer have any
well-defined, agree-upon set of standards for right and wrong, then
morality has become a moot point.
