Gel-

congrats on the great tourney coverage
& I think you hit on the big reason so many .com companies tanked -- how to
actually make money from a successful site.

WHEEEEW!
What a Tournament! the Finals was just the BEST yet! :)

The vibe..the energy that was there was great. We have to figure next time
how to get that same ecitement into all the
Prelims too, which appeared sedate in comparison.

We had an incident where some idiot lied and said he was a finalist when he
wasn't . Its just because I remembered the guy's
face that I picked up on it. A slip in the recodring results process there
indeed :-\.

We had Machel Montano..Trinidad's premier Calypso artiste that just signed a
contract with atlantic records I believe. That
was a huge huge boost..and the television stations were on hand to make sure
to get it. I was really happy with that.
In fact..I'm happy all around.

Its just that throughout all these tournaments..a lot of people got mileage
from them in terms of being associated with
it....but what benefit was it to the website itself? Well...there were some
more hits...and we are up on the percentage of
people from the Caribbean viewing the site as opposed to the US....but
still...how do you turn exposure like this..fantastic
exposure..into profit online?

I think I am bumping into the spectre that has haunted the .Com market in
the US. Great marketing-Great Exposure-everybody is
all aglow and interested..now htf do you make money?
Approach Investors and get them to give you 10/20 million US,that's HOW!
Unfortunately that's not an option for me hee hee :)

So...we'll see how local advertising goes and where we take it from there. An
E-Commerce solution is where I am heading next,
selling the games and the more specialised hardware over the website. Things
that have a very high dollar value to appeal to
the 'hardcore' gamers out there that must have the latest , most expensive
steering wheel and graphics card in their
computers, and who should have the disposable income to purchase them.
At least thats an idea. From here on out I believe we will have to get more
serious on the business side now that we have
acheived momentum.

I'm sure I'll let you all know how it goes as the saga of Carigamer.com
continues ^_^.
And if any of you have been through this before, this
amateurish,unprofessional entrepeneur wouldn't mind advice ;-P .
I must say I'm enjoying the ride so far though.

Tired but happy,
-Gel
