I really didn't think it would take /this/ long to get a comment from
'theGel' or 'theK'... ;P
It's really just one of the typical 'realty-cam' type dealies, of which I'm
surprised that someone's even willing to pay to put up, but I do know the
person, and am somewhat cutting them a deal...
I would have to get back to ya on any free membership opportunities =D
....Java... yup. Can't say I know too much about that. Best I've found has
been the AnfyCam applet, but that puts the image source location into the
<param> of the applet, so that's no good... =\
....looking into the cfcontent, and possibly the random file naming...
Thanks!

hee hee.
What kind of members only webcam site?
You know when you just leave it broad like that the mind tends to wander.
If I help do I get free membership?
^_^
Let me think.
You have a webcam that puts an image named xyz.jpg in a location.
It constantly overwrites that location with the same file at regular
intervals.
To block that you could use a Java Control to display the .jpg...that way
they never see the filename.
Ok so you don't know to write that in Java...
umm...Scheduled event that sets a session variable and puts the .jpg in a
different location with a random filename that is
called as the src of an image tag?

Hey guys - wondering if any of you have any experience or tips on creating a
members only webcam area type dealie using CF, et al.? A possible client
wants a members only site for webcams, and I can't quite figure out in my
head how to go about doing something like that. I mean, once you pay and
log on once, what's to keep you from finding the source of the updated
images and creating a hard link or script to it on your own computer,
bypassing the whole cflogin routine. CF does no good if someone's linking
directly to the .jpg... I'm sure there's something here that can be done,
prob. with the actual server/file perms that I don't know about yet...
Anyone?
TIA
