A dress code for IT workers? Why?
*sits in a jeans and a jersey at work*
They tried to do that here too a while back.
I believe we said something to the effect, that if we are forced to wear shirts and
ties, we'll work 8 to 4 just like
'normal' workers.
Oh..and all that extra time we spend logging to our machines over the weekend to
finish or sometimes start jobs and stuff?
Nope.
Oh and when we're sick and you want something done for a client, and ask us to do it
from home. Nope.
Oh and working overtime without compensation and doing whatever it takes even things
totally outside our job description to
get the job done for a client? Nope.
Oh..and spending time on R&D for things such as 3D Modelling, Integrating Flash
Animations with 3D Art and E-Commerce etc.
that no one asks us to do but helps to add that little ooomph to make the sale to
clients? Nope.
We'll be just like normal workers, who would laugh themselves silly if asked to do any
of those things without getting paid a
lot extra.
We're still in jeans and jerseys today, though we each have a shirt and a tie handy if
we ever have to meet an 'important'
client. (So far the important clients haven't batted an eyelid when we go with a
manager to a meeting in jeans and jerseys to
lend some technical know how to a sales pitch.)
Oh and shades...don't forget the shades..
=8)

p.s. if you try this and get fired don't blame me.

Says us: "A dress code. He's implementing a dress code?!"
I must find a new job. I can't take it any longer....
Need muffins to throw at management. Or, alternatively, to suffocate myself
with. Why couldn't I have been one of the lucky layoffees?
Now I have to go buy some "appropriate attire" this weekend instead of going
to the beach.

Sad, sad Erin
