It's a tradition, and in that sense it serves a purpose. But to be honest,
the real 'business' is not done at pm's question time (which is in
parliament, before the house of commons). It can also prove very
entertaining at times.
Things have improved a lot since the sessions were televised. That's only
been about 10 years or so!! For a real laugh, watch the house of lords in
debate, although I use that word advisedly!! Again, things there have
improved in recent times, but you will never see such a bunch of old
duffers!!

Yeah. The Prime Minister's Questions (before the House of Lords?) seems
like a free-for-all to me. I'm sure it works, but it does seem strange
after viewing our own House and Senate in action.
