We Americans frequently misuse "whore." It has come to mean a person
doing anything he/she might not otherwise do, whether of a sexual nature
or not, simply for the benefit(s). A person doing a job they don't like
can be said to be whoring.
Slut covers women who jump into a lot of beds, regardless of whether
they like sex.
